William may be seen living with his parents in the 1860 and 1870 Census Records for Wapello County, Iowa, and he was living with his mother, Susan, in the 1880 Census for Wapello County, Iowa. In that 1880 Census, William's middle name was given as Gee. Their last name is spelled Hamner in the 1860 Census, Hanner in the 1870 Census, and Hanmer in the 1880 census. William Hammer was living with his mother, Susan, in the 1885 Census for Wapello County. On June 5, 1886, William Granville Hanmer married Mahaley Elizabeth Eaton, in Ottumwa. His name is just shown as William Granville Hanmer on the marriage record in familysearch.org and just Granville Hanmer on the marriage record in ancestry.com.
