In 1932 they rented the farm in the west part of town known as the Jim Hall place, owned by the Western Catholic Union of Quincy. They lived there until late 1939 when the barn burned. The owners then traded the house with Mrs. McCabe, who lived in the west edge of Leonard. Dad and Mom quit farming in 1941 and moved to Shelbina. In the later part of 1942 and 1943 they returned to lease the Leonard switchboard. From there a short stay in California, they bought the Ben Beckley property. They resided there until their deaths. Dad died in April 1960 and Mom in July 1975. They were the parents of five: Florence Carney, Ernest, Jane Resa Rainey, Genelee Beckley, and Della Lou Craggs.
