Brooks of Ramseur, was called to his reward on Friday, February 1, 1918, at the age of 59 years, four months, and 23 days, after an illness of only a few days of pneumonia. Mr. Brooks had been in failing health for some weeks, but his death came as a surprise even to those of his own family. The funeral was held at Parks' Cross Roads church, at which place he was buried, on Sunday morning. The large congregation gathered for the service attested to the esteem in which he was held by his friends and those who knew him. The service, was conducted by his pastor, Rev. W. O. John, son,of Siler City. Mr. Brooks had been for years a faithful and consistent member of Brush Creek Baptist church. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Lena Burgess, four sons, T. W. Brooks of Roanoke, Va., G. C. Brooks, of Brush .Creek, J. C. Brooks of Ramseur, and W. L. Brooks, who is in training at Camp Jackson, S. C, and one daughter, Miss Mary Brooks of Ramseur. He is also survived by one brother, Mr. G. W. Brooks of Brush Creek, and six sisters, who are Mrs. C. F. Burgess of Ramseur, Mrs. W.F. Lambert of Coles Store, Mrs. Ed Leonard of Ore Hill, Mrs. C. H. Parkham of Raleigh, Mrs. R. C. Lambert of Liberty, and Mrs E. H. York of Orangeburg, S. C.
