He belonged to the Holy Name Society and Third Order of St Francis of Earlling Survivors include ten children: Mrs Jack Zimmerman (Lipharda) of Earling, Lawrence of Buck Grove, Al of Earling, Mrs Lavern Foxhoven (Odeha) of Earling, Marie of Breckenridge, TX, Tony of Earling, Mrs Phil McAndrews (Pauline) of Defiance, Mrs Vernon Scheuning (Genevieve) of Defiance, Mrs Eugene Reiz (Agnes) of Omaha NE, and Ivo of Earling; four brothers: Rev N A Gaul of Portsmouth, Peter, John, and Paul of Earling; two sisters: Elizabeth of Portsmouth and Sister M Lipharda of Campbellsport, WI, and 34 grandchildren. His wife, Catherine, one son, Joseph, and one daughter, Suzanne, preceeded him in death. Funeral services were held at St Joseph's Church in Earling with Rev N A Gaul officiating at the Solemn High Mass with Rev Hilary Gaul as Deacon and Rev Corneilius Gaul as Subdeacon. Msgr P A Bissen was master of ceremonies. Burial was in St Joseph Cemetery in Earling. Pallbearers were Leonard Schechinger, Gerald Gaul, Kenneth Storres, Vern Gaul, Ferdinand Gaul, and Don Schechinger.
