Description	:	William “Bill” G. Fecht, 85, of Kearney died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at his home southwest of Kearney. There will be a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. Read More	William “Bill” G. Fecht, 85, of Kearney died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at his home southwest of Kearney. There will be a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. He will be laid to rest at the Gothenburg Cemetery. Bill was born December 9, 1930 to Gerhardt and Viola Jungren Fecht at their home near Willow Island in Dawson County, Nebraska. He grew up and attended elementary and high school in Gothenburg, graduating from Gothenburg High in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 – 1954. On August 19, 1956 he married Frances “Fran” Stryker at Gothenburg. The couple moved to Kearney in 1956 and they owned and operated the White Spot Café for two years then ran Willies Drive Inn for a couple of years. In 1961 they had a son William G. Fecht Jr. (Gary). He worked as a superintendent /foreman for Mid Nebraska Structures of Kearney and some other construction firms. He was involved in many of the projects at UNK such as BHS, Fine Arts Building and Centennial Towers. He was superintendent on the round Platte Valley State Bank. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping and bowling. He bowled in many local and national tournaments. Later in his life he enjoyed visiting the Kearney Senior Center to visit with his friends and have lunch. Surviving relatives include his son, William “Gary” Fecht Jr. of Vancouver, Washington; grandchildren, Lyssa Fecht, Matthew Bethel, Jessica Fecht of St. Clair, MO and Joshua Fecht of Vancouver, WA; brothers Stan Fecht of Ogallala NE, John Fecht of Cozad, NE , Ron Fecht of Gothenburg and Sisters, Betty Benson of Custer, SD, Vicki Lutjemeyer of Lincoln and Jody Kotschwar of Curtis, NE. He was preceded in death by his wife Fran; a brother at birth and sister, Jo-Ann shortly after birth and his parents.
