Description	:	William Gibson Sample was born in Uniontown, Belmont Co., Iowa, Feb, 10, 1837; departed this life Oct. 18, 1918, aged 81 years, 8 months and 8 days. He moved, with his parents, to Lee County, Iowa; was married to Miss Wilson in early life and to this union was born a son, who died in infancy, his wife dying at that time; he was again married in 1863 to Miss Dinah Hobson, and to this union was born 8 boys and one girl, George Washington and Freddie Lee dying in infancy, James Albert lived to be 45 years old before he died. He leaves... Read More	William Gibson Sample was born in Uniontown, Belmont Co., Iowa, Feb, 10, 1837; departed this life Oct. 18, 1918, aged 81 years, 8 months and 8 days. He moved, with his parents, to Lee County, Iowa; was married to Miss Wilson in early life and to this union was born a son, who died in infancy, his wife dying at that time; he was again married in 1863 to Miss Dinah Hobson, and to this union was born 8 boys and one girl, George Washington and Freddie Lee dying in infancy, James Albert lived to be 45 years old before he died. He leaves to mourn his loss, 5 boys and 1 girl, Mrs. Mary Francis Walker of Farry, Oklahoma. John Grant, William Irvin, Milton Isaac, Charlie Gibson, Virgil Everett; 27 grand children; 16 great grand children and many friends. His wife died in 1899 and he was again married in 1901 to Mrs. Eliza Hartzier, being divorced from her after 4 years and was again married in 1907 to Mrs. Bell Sweet who lived with him until her death, Dec. 25, 1916 after which he came to live with his son, Irwin (Irvin) until his death. He united with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in 1885 and was a member continuously in good standing until his death. A short funeral service was conducted from the residence, Rev. J. H. Hampshire officiating after which the body was taken to the old home in Iowa, for burial, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Sample. (Lebanon Times; Lebanon, Kansas; October 22, 1918; page 2)
