Description	:	OBITUARY Covert - Grant Covert, a resident of Hiawatha, Kas., for 30 years, died at his home, 710 Delaware, Friday. April 15, 1938, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services for him were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Hargis chapel, conducted by the Rev. J. W. Campbell, pastor of the Hiawatha Methodist church, burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery. The IOOF lodge was in charge of the service at the grave. William Grant Covert was born at Unionville, Mo., Jan. 18, 1869. He was 69 years, 2 months, 27 days of age at the time of his death. When a boy of 15, he moved with his parents to Beloit, Kans., where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Rena Ashburn Mar. 24, 1892. 7 children were born to their union. The only son, 2 daughters died in infancy. Mrs. Covert died 10 years ago, Aug. 8, 1928. He was married a second time to Mrs. Rose Rainey, of Hiawatha, march 8, 1930. Mr. Covert was a stone mason by trade, was known, as not only a hard worker, but a good workman. He became widely acquainted in this section of the state thru his trade, made many friends among the people with whom he associated. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge, also the Standard Life Association. As a man he professed religion, joined the U.B. church. Mr. Covert is survived by his wife, of the home; 4 daughters, Mrs. Elma Sansom of Corcoran, also Mrs. Daisy Rupe, of Tipton, Calif; Mrs. Essie Longacre, of Linn Creek, Mo.; Mrs. Eva Siwan, of Manhattan, Kans.; 15 grandchildren; one brother, Elza Covert, of Beloit, Kans.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Grace Riely of Sheldon, Mo., Mrs. Ida Muck, of Larned, kans.; Mrs. Clara Gingrien, Mrs. Kansas Fitch, of Chester, Okla., other relatives, a host of friends.
