Parents are Edward Gallagar & Marie Mary (Rosenbeck) Gallagar~Fischer~Anderson ---------- William Gallager, son of Edward Gallager, was born April 30, 1887 at Dixon, Iowa and passed away Saturday, July 8, 1961, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake at the age of 74 years, 2 months, and 9 days. After living near Dixon for some years, they moved to Montgomery, where he farmed with his parents for some years and then for a time he operated the farm alone. In 1933 he took over the operation of a service station at Montgomery until about 1947. He also served his country in the Armed Forces during World War I. Though no longer operating the service station, he continued to work there until finally failing health made this impossible. Preceding him in death were both of Mr. Gallager's parents and a half brother, Roy Fischer. Survivors include a sister, Nan Gallager, of Savannah, Ill., who because of advanced age, was unable to attend the funeral; a brother, John who is confined to the Dickinson County Home; a half brother, Henry Fischer, of rural Spirit Lake; a half sister, Mrs. Alice Owens, of Browns Valley Minn.; and a half sister Lillian Fritz, of Houston, Texas. He also leaves many nephews and nieces and a great number of friends in the Montgomery community who will long cherish the memories of his helpfulness, big heartedness, and genial spirit. Burial was at the Ohoboji Cemetery in Arnolds Park, Iowa. Pallbearers were: Geo. Mayyou, Edward Eral, Harvey Johnson, C. E. Giffin, Henry Breutl and Dwight Hilliard.
