Kuhn, the oldest child of Lawrence and Violet (Eckles) Kuhn, was born on October 8, 1928, on a farm near Central City, and passed away on May 26, 2019, in Central City. He attended grade school at several Merrick County rural schools and graduated from Clarks High School in 1947. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1954. On August 30, 1953, he was united in marriage to Joyce Nadine Hunscote at the First Congregational Church at Clarks. Upon Bill’s discharge from the Navy, he and Joyce began a life-long farming and livestock operation. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Clarks, serving as a trustee for many years. Upon moving to Central City, he attended Heartland Evangelical Free Church. He was active in many organizations and served on numerous boards, including the Merrick County ASC Committee, the Clarks Development Corporation, Solar Lodge No. 134 A.F. and A.M, Lone Tree Medical Association, 23-year treasurer of the Clarks School Board, Litzenberg Memorial Hospital Board, and Merrick County Foundation Board. He was also a member of the VFW in Clarks and the American Legion in Central City. William played and enjoyed sports all of his life and was a devoted Husker fan. His faith in Christ and his family were very important to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry and Tom; and one infant sister, Kay. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce; son, Reg of Lincoln; son, Kurt (Kristen) of Clarks; son, Kyle (Stephanie) of San Antonio, Texas; and daughter, Kay (Stuart) Fitzsimons of Conroe, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
