Description	:	William H. Mundhenke, the son of Henry and Fanna Mundhenke, was born January 14, 1896 in Turner County near Chancellor, SD. He died February 15, 1978 at Watertown, SD at the age of 82. He grew to adulthood in Turner County. Mr. Mundhenke was united in marriage to Swannie Poppens on November 19, 1923 in Turner County. One son was born to this union and died in infancy. Mundhenke, the son of Henry and Fanna Mundhenke, was born January 14, 1896 in Turner County near Chancellor, SD. He died February 15, 1978 at Watertown, SD at the age of 82. He grew to adulthood in Turner County. Mr. Mundhenke was united in marriage to Swannie Poppens on November 19, 1923 in Turner County. One son was born to this union and died in infancy. Swannie died in November, 1927. He was joined in marriage to Jennie Kuper on November 5, 1929 in Turner County, SD. His four children that survive him were born to this marriage. Jennie died on February 10, 1955. He was joined in marriage to Christine Jorgenson on October 30, 1958 at Chancellor, SD. She preceded him in death on December 21, 1977. William farmed in Turner County until 1930 at which time he moved to Willow Lake, SD where he continued to farm for many years. He moved to Chancellor in 1958 and lived here until 1962 when he returned to Willow Lake. He has been a resident of the Park View Care Center in Bryant, SD from August 1976 until the time of his death. He had been a long-time member of the Presbyterian Reformed Church in Willow Lake and he served on the church council for several years. He served on the Willow Lake City Council for several years and also served on the board of directors at Park View Care Center in Bryant for several years. He was a member of the Johnnie Fonken American Legion Post #113 in Willow Lake and served his country in France during World War I. Among those who are grateful for having shared his life are one son, Floyd of Willow Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Fanny) Berkeland and Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Seefeldt both of Willow Lake, and Mrs. Robert (Florence) Spilde of Rapid City; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, Andy Mundhenke of Willow Lake, and one sister Mrs. Folkert (Tillie) Poppens of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives, one son, one brother, three sisters and 2 grandchildren.
