Description	:	Thursday November 24, 1938 Marion Sentinel: CENTRAL CITY--William H. Smola, veteran blacksmith and former mayor of Central City, died of a heart attack last Thursday evening. He was stricken while in the act of pulling his boat out of the Wapsie, and died a few minutes later. Smola, veteran blacksmith and former mayor of Central City, died of a heart attack last Thursday evening. He was stricken while in the act of pulling his boat out of the Wapsie, and died a few minutes later. He was born in Illinois March 2, 1870, the son of Wencil and Eleanor Smola, and came with them at the age of 12 to Central City, which vicinity has since been his home. February 8, 1893, he was married to Blanche Larkey. They were parents of six children, Paul and Mrs. Hazel Henderson of Central City, William, jr., of Onslow, Lester of Chicago, Robert of Riverside and Mrs. Mildred Johnson of Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Smola died some years ago, and he was married to Mrs. Charley Larkey, who with his children survive, together with four sisters, Mrs. Oma Gloss of Central City, Mrs. Mary Copping of Pasadena, Mrs. Emma Allender of Eugene, Ore., and Mrs Minnie Ralston of Springville. Mr. Smola was a member of the Christian church, the Odd Fellows, and was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends in the north part of the county. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church, Rev. E.C. Allen in charge of the services. His four sons and two sons-in-law were the pallbearers. Burial was in Mount Clark cemetery.
