He was en route home from Kansas City, Mo., two weeks ago, after having received treatment in a hospital there for hardening of the liver and tuberculosis, results... Obituary from a Quad Cities newspaper: William Voelpell, resident of Baldwin, Io., passed at 5:30 last evening in the home of his half sister, Mrs. J.R. Huette, 1832 Eleventh street, this city. He was en route home from Kansas City, Mo., two weeks ago, after having received treatment in a hospital there for hardening of the liver and tuberculosis, results of a serious attack of influenza which he had eight months ago. He was unable to proceed further and was taken to his sister's home in this city. His remains will be taken to Maquoketa, Io., where funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon in the Reform church. Interment will be in Maquoketa cemetery. Mr. Voelpell was born June 23, 1866, in Moline. He married Miss Anna Smith April 4, 1901. To this union were born five children, who survive him with the widow. They are Alva, Anna, Mary, Trula and Isaac, all at home. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Henry Mau of Andrew, Io., one brother, John Voelpell of Chicago, and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Dean of Chicago, two half sisters and three half brothers; Dora Mau of Andrew, Fred Mau of Andrew, Louis Mau of Davenport and Herman Mau of Elwood, Io., and Mrs J.R. Huette, at whose home he died. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lge of Lost Nation, Io., and of the Lutheran church of Baldwin, in which he was confirmed.
