Description	:	WAVERLY JUNCTION —Harden McCaffree, the third white child to be born in Bremer county, and the son of the first white child to be born in the county, died at his home here Thursday morning at 5:20 o'clock following a Stroke of paralysis which came Tuesday morning. Funeral services were held at the home here Sunday afternoon with Rev. Elmer E. Tiedt of the Waverly Baptist church in charge. Burial was at the Waverly Junction cemetery. Read More	WAVERLY JUNCTION —Harden McCaffree, the third white child to be born in Bremer county, and the son of the first white child to be born in the county, died at his home here Thursday morning at 5:20 o'clock following a Stroke of paralysis which came Tuesday morning. Funeral services were held at the home here Sunday afternoon with Rev. Elmer E. Tiedt of the Waverly Baptist church in charge. Burial was at the Waverly Junction cemetery. Mr. McCaffree would have been 81 years old June 11. Except for a stroke eight years ago, he had enjoyed very good health. He and Mrs. McCaffree celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary on Jan. 5 of this year. Mrs. McCaffree, though suffering from the shock of her husband's death, is bearing up well. The deceased was born in Bremer county the summer of 1849 and when a small boy his family moved to Missouri. They stayed there until he was 12 years old when they returned, settling in the Waverly Junction community. They made the trip back to Iowa in a covered wagon and were overtaken in the southern part of the state by a winter storm. Leaving half of their provisions there, they came on, returning for the food the next spring.
