Description	:	William "Harry" Sumy was born on July 20, 1910 at Sabetha, Kansas, son of Daniel and Sally Constant Sumy. They moved to Missouri in 1910. Harry graduated from a two year high school in Arkoe, Mo. Moved to Sheridan in 1926 and graduated from High School in 1928 from Sheridan High School. Harry married Neva Sparks on February 13, 1929 at Sparks, Kansas. Together they had ten children: Mary E. Florea, Betty L. Hankins, Marvin E., Romono J. Harrington, Ronald O., Barbara A. Harry graduated from a two year high school in Arkoe, Mo. Moved to Sheridan in 1926 and graduated from High School in 1928 from Sheridan High School. Harry married Neva Sparks on February 13, 1929 at Sparks, Kansas. Together they had ten children: Mary E. Florea, Betty L. Hankins, Marvin E., Romono J. Harrington, Ronald O., Barbara A. Jackson, Shirley M. Enders, Carolyn L. Weston, Linda K. Campbell, and Rita L. Wells. In 1980, at the time of this biography, they had 28 grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Their first 28 years of marriage were spent on farms in the Sheridan and Hopkins area, except for one year in Arkansas. From 1944 through 1956 Harry supplemented the farm income as a heavy machinery operator. In January 1, 1957, they purchased a service station and tank wagon service from Floyd Deffenbaugh and moved to Skidmore. He operated the business in the first four and a half years under the Mutz Oil Company. In 1962, he signed a Jobber Contract with Continental Oil with contracts for tires, batteries and accessories and fuel. The business was a family affair and after Harry's death, Marvin continued to operate and eventually own the Sumy Gas Station with his son, Robert (Bob). Mr. Sumy was a member of the Sheridan Christian Church, Skidmore Lions Club, Skidmore Masonic Lodge No. 511; Skidmore Eastern Star; and he was the past worshipful master of Xenia Masonic Lodge of Pickering. Mr. Sumy passed away on Dec 11, 1984. Services were held at the Price Funeral Home, Marville, Mo. Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore, Mo.
