Description	:	William was the son of Justus and Philena Scott Arms. He married Elizabeth Brownell in 1876. They were the parents of Effie, Roy, Delos Ernest (1879 - 1914), Lora, Charles (died in infancy), Clinton, Harlow, Russell Joseph (1890, 1925 Reasoner, IA), Monroe, Ruby, and Ralph Arms. They were the parents of Effie, Roy, Delos Ernest (1879 - 1914), Lora, Charles (died in infancy), Clinton, Harlow, Russell Joseph (1890, 1925 Reasoner, IA), Monroe, Ruby, and Ralph Arms. William was born in Stephensen Co, Illinois. When quite young he moved with his parents to Prairie du Chien, WI. In 1864, William enlisted in the Civil War. He was in Company A, 13th light Artillery Volunteers of Wisconsin, at the age of 20. He served until July 20, 1865 and was discharged at Milwaukee. In 1870 he came to Clay County, Iowa where he took a homestead on Section 14, Lincoln Twp, which has been his residence ever since. His homestead certificate was signed by Rutherford B Hayes, President of the US. William died of heart disease. When the end came, he passed away peacefully to his glorious home beyond. All of his children, except the one who died in infancy (Charles), attended his funeral. He also leaves three brothers and two sisters.
