Description	:	William Henry Blakewell was born at Brimfield, IL, August 6, 1858. On December 26, 1883 he was united in marriage to Mary From Schanck. To this union six children were born, two of the daughters passing away in infancy. In the spring of 1885 they moved from IL to NE where they were engaged in farming until the spring of 1902, when they moved to a farm near Erwin, SD. They resided there until the fall of 1920 when they moved to Erwin. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1933... Read More	William Henry Blakewell was born at Brimfield, IL, August 6, 1858. On December 26, 1883 he was united in marriage to Mary From Schanck. To this union six children were born, two of the daughters passing away in infancy. In the spring of 1885 they moved from IL to NE where they were engaged in farming until the spring of 1902, when they moved to a farm near Erwin, SD. They resided there until the fall of 1920 when they moved to Erwin. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1933 with all their children and most of the grandchildren in attendance. His wife passed away April 11, 1936, and since that fall he has made his home with his son, William, in Erwin. Mr. Blakewell passed away on March 10, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 4 days. He was the last of a family of 12 children. He leaves to mourn his passing three sons, William and Chester of Erwin, and Gilbert of Clear Lake, IA; one daughter Mrs. G. H. Backer of Tulare; 11 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church Thursday afternoon by the Reverend Thaden of Huron. Music was by a mixed quartet, Mrs. S. W. Holten, Mrs. A. L. Sorenson, Idor Severson and Oscar Bjordahl. Mrs. William Smith accompanist. Burial was in the Erwin Cemetery near Erwin.
