Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church on Saturday afternoon with the former pastor Rev. Schuldt, in charge. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pall bearers: Herman and Elmer Riggert, Alvin and Henry DePue, Loren Clayton and Keith Gerkin. The Martin Funerel Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. DePue was born near Mason City, Illinois on Nov. 22 1864, the son of Rebecca Lee and Henry DePue. His father died when he was 7 years old. He later moved with his mother to Cumberland. Iowa, and grew into manhood at that place. He married in 1886. To this union were born six children. Albion, deceased, Harold of Cylinder, Agnes of Armstrong, Ray of Minneapolis, Ruby of Stickney, S.D., and Ralph of New Underwood, S.D. He also leaves one brother, Albion, of Adel, Iowa, one sister, Stella Longnecker of Canon City, Colo., and three half brothers: Joe Smith, Independence, Iowa, and Frank and Fred Edwards of Massena, Iowa. Ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Nov 15, 1945 - The Democrat - Funeral services for Will Depue who died last Wednesday at the John Joyce home were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons. Mr Depue was born in Illinois in 1864. He was 80 years old at the time of his death. The family moved to Cumberland, IA with his mother when he was 11, following the death of his father. He later moved to Van Meter where he married Nellie Brach in 1886. They then moved to Emmetsburg where they made their home for the past several years. Mr. and Mrs. DePue celebrated their golden wedding anniversary 9 years ago. Besides his wife he is also survived by five children: Agnes of Armstrong, Ray of Minneapolis, Ruby of Stickney, S.D., Ralph of New Underwood, S.D., and Harold of Cylinder. One son Albion, preceded him in death. A brother Albion of Adel, a sister Stella of Cannon city, Colo, and three half brother also survive. The elderly man was known as a kind and generous neighbor and a loyal friend. His death is mourned not only by his aged wife and his family, but by a large number of friends. Sympathy is extended them in bereavement.
