William Henry "Harry" Curry was born on Dec. 30, 1920, in Galva, Iowa, to parents William and Caroline (Edmunds) Curry. He graduated from high school in Galva, Iowa with the class of 1941. He worked for General Telephone service, then he entered the United States Navy in 1942, serving until 1945. On Nov. 1, 1948, he married Virginia Kral in Dakota City, Nebraska. Harry worked at Floyd's Market in Lake City, then owned and operated Lanesboro Tavern in Lanesboro with his father-in-law. He then worked at Council Oaks Grocery in Lake City and was a meat cutter at Lake City Super Value for many years. He was also a greens keeper at the Lake City Country Club for several years. His memberships include: Lake City V.F.W., American Legion, Masonic Lodge, ZaGaZig Shriners, the United States Navy Armed Guard WWII, was a commander with AmVets, a worthy patron of Eastern Star and was a member of the Lake City Union Church. Harry is survived by his wife Virginia of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Helen Wellington, and a brother, Jim Curry.
