After six months patient suffering, and in spite of all that loving hands could do, he passed quietly away on Wednesday morning, December 26. The late Mr. Johnston was born at Ottumwa, Iowa, January, 1861, and was married to Miss Alice Gee on January 31st, 1885. Read More	Morningside News In the death of W.H. Johnston, Morningside has lost one of its most highly respected citizens. After six months patient suffering, and in spite of all that loving hands could do, he passed quietly away on Wednesday morning, December 26. The late Mr. Johnston was born at Ottumwa, Iowa, January, 1861, and was married to Miss Alice Gee on January 31st, 1885. They moved to Nebraska the following year, and then to Alberta in 1900, where they farmed in the vicinity of Morningside until 1912, when he became general merchant and postmaster of that town, which position he held until the time of his death. The deceased was a prominent man in school affairs, having been among the first trustees of the Pleasant Hill and Morningside districts. He also held the position of secretary-treasurer of the O.K. Creamery Co. for a number of years. To Mr. and Mrs. Johnston eleven children were born, nine of who are living, and were with their father most of the time for several weeks before his death. One boy died in infancy, and Pearl passed away in the summer of 1913. The surviving ones are--Roy, of Calgary, Mrs. Muncaster and Hillis, of Wainwright, Mr. Winslow and Mrs. Scott, near Morningside, Mrs. Wand, Biddaford, and Ethel Birdie and Clara at home. The remains were laid to rest in the Lacombe cemetery on Friday afternoon, Dec. 28th. Much sympathy is extended to Mrs. Johnston and family in their great loss.
