Mr. Knee was one of the highly respected and honored-citizens or the north part of the county, where he has spent most of his life. William Henry Knee, son of Mr, and Mrs. John Knee, was born Sept. 10, 1864, in Carroll county, Indiana and he died Wednesday, January 17, 1923 in Mt. Etna at the age of 58 years, 4 months, and 7 days. He had been a sufferer from asthma for a few years, having contracted pneumonia a few days ago resulting in his death. At the age of 8 he came with his father to Adams County, Iowa, his mother having died when he was 4 years of age. In 1891 he married Minnie C. Lee of Adams county, where he made his home until 1903 when he moved to the vicinity of Salem and a number of years later they moved to Lenox, Iowa, where they lived until a year ago when they moved to Mt. Etna where he made his home ever since. He has let a consistent Christian life having united with the Brethren Church in 1890 and in 1897 the Church of Brethren where he has been a faithful member of the church and his Creator, never tiring in his service to the Master. He leaves to mourn his loss his faithful mate and adopted son, Henry Knee of near Carbon, five half brothers and one half sister, namely Edd, Fred, John, Charlie, Richard, and Mrs. Elsie Basor of near Grant, Iowa and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Brethren in Mt. Etna on January 18 at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Henry K. Rogers and assisted by Rev. McPherson of Messena and Rev. D. G. Keyser. Burial was in Mt. Etna Cemetery. Adams County Free Press, January 20, 1923
