William was a sailor and oyterman at Lawsonia, and a veteran of the Civil War. William Henry Lankford was a Pvt. In Co. K, 1st Eastern Shore Maryland Infantry, Home Guards, from 1861-2864. Children by his first wife: 1) Sarah Catherine Lankford (1856- ) m. William Henry Tull 2) Sallie W. Lankford (26 Aug 1857-8 Oct 1936) m. Lorenzo Dow Riggin 3) Sterling Lankford (12 Oct 1861-15 Nov 1916) m. Annie O. Lawson 4) Christopher Columbus Lankford (23 Feb 1866-9 Oct 1941) m. Mary Olivia Nelson, wife of John Edgar Lankford, and daughter of David M. Nelson and Julia Ann McCready William died 2 Feb 1914 at Crisfield, Maryland. In his will written 12 Apr 1907, probated 27 Feb 1914, he left his wife Sallie 3 ¾ acres in the Asbury District (Som. Wills TD21:384) Lawsonia. Capt. William Lankford died last Monday morning at the age of eighty-four years. He had been failing for several years and is survived by a widow and several children. Funeral services were held at the home place on Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. E.H. Dashiell. Interment was in the family cemetery.
