Shaw of Mecklenburg county, Va., was dead, but we did not get the particulars till after we had gone to press. His death was an exceedingly strange and shocking one. Shaw The Record, last week, stated that Mr. W.H. Shaw of Mecklenburg county, Va., was dead, but we did not get the particulars till after we had gone to press. His death was an exceedingly strange and shocking one. It seems that sometime in last July a dog ran mad in Mr. Shaw’s neighborhood, and bit his fine pointer dog. The mad dog was killed on Mr. Shaw’s farm. Almost the latter part of September Mr. Shaw’s pointer became sick, and in attempting to administer a dose of medicine to the dog, Mr. Shaw’s hand became scratched by the dog’s teeth. On last Sunday week, Mr. Shaw was taken sick and rapidly grew worse, having fit after fit until death relieved him the following Tuesday The doctors who attended Mr. Shaw, did not, at first, believe that he had hydrophobia, but when the end came, they said that they could not possibly account for his death any other way. Mr. Shaw leaves a wife and a large number of children. He is well known in our county, and has a large number of relatives and friends here. He was a generous hearted, kind man, 52 years old.
