Thomas, 82, 322 College St., died at 9 a.m. yesterday in Blanchard Valley Hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks. He had been in failing health for the past several years. He was a retired employee of the Ampco Twist Drill Co., Jackson, Mich, and was a former town marshal and night watchman in McComb. He was born June 28, 1884 in Bridgend, Wales, the son of William F. and Mary (Manuel) Thomas. He married Alice Miller on Oct. 4, 1905, and she survives. He moved to the United States in 1886 and moved to Hancock County in 1914. Also surviving are sons Lester, Jackson Mich.; Calvin, Jackson, Mich.; Edward, McComb; Cecil, Findlay; daughters Mrs James (Margie) Coffey, Jackson, Mich.; Mrs. Clarnece (Alice) Rider, McComb; Mrs. Orley (Gaynelle) Van Horn, Hoytville; sisters, Mrs. Edward (Agnes) Meadows, and Mrs. Al (Alice) Kissinger, both of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; brother, Charles, Los Angeles, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased. He was a member of the Welsh Congregational Church, Gomer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow azt the Harman-Hartley Fluneral Home, McComb. The Rev. C.E. Jeffers will officiate with burial in McComb Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
