Description	:	William H VanDine died at his home on Broad Street last Friday evening of heart trouble, aged 70 years and 5 months. He had been in his usual good health up to the time of his death. Mr. and Mrs. Van Dine prepared to go to bed about 10 o'clock. Mrs. VanDine stepped out into the yard and upon her return to the house found it in darkness and the water running at the sink. She called for her husband and receiving no response stepped over to the sink to shut off the water when she stumbled over the body... Read More	William H VanDine died at his home on Broad Street last Friday evening of heart trouble, aged 70 years and 5 months. He had been in his usual good health up to the time of his death. Mr. and Mrs. Van Dine prepared to go to bed about 10 o'clock. Mrs. VanDine stepped out into the yard and upon her return to the house found it in darkness and the water running at the sink. She called for her husband and receiving no response stepped over to the sink to shut off the water when she stumbled over the body of her husband. She called her son-in-law, Joseph DeHart, who lives next door, who went with Mrs. VanDine into the home and found the body of Mr. VanDine, dead on the floor. Dr. G.G. Hoagland was summoned and upon his arrival said that death was due to heart failure. The supposition is that Mr. VanDine after putting the lampon the stairs went to get a drink of water and, as the water was left running indicated that he was stricken before he had time to shut the water off. Mr. VanDine was the son of the late William and Elizabeth VanDine and was born at South Keyport. He was married to Miss Emaline Crawford in 1855 at the home of her parents in New York City. The celebrated their golden Wedding anniversary on October 31st 1905. Mr. VanDine was in the grocery business at South Keyport for a number of years. At the time of his death he was in the employ of James MrCreery Co. of New York City, where he had been collector for the past twenty years. He was a member of St. John's M.E. Church, South Keyport. The funeral was held last Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late house, Reverend C.M. Johnston of St. John's M.E. Church officiating assisted by Reverend C.S. Lawrence of Calvary M.E. Church; Internment in Cedarwood Cemetery, South Keyport. Besides a wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. E.D. Hill of New York City and Mrs. Joseph DeHart of this place. Two sisters also survive him, Mrs. Garrett Ackerson of New York City and Mrs. Thomas Rosevear of this place.
