Read More	William was the son of Ernest Wernick & Mary Page. He married Edith Emmeline Sheffield 1 Jul 1883 in Lake City, Iowa. They were the parents of Carrie, George, Harry, & Irving. Carroll Sentinel - Thursday , December 17th, 1891 - Henry Wernick, of Jasper township, came to Carroll to attend court as a witness and put up at the City hotel the fore part of this term. Previous to this time he had been gathering com and had scratched his wrist with a husking peg. After he came here erysipelas set in and doctors were called but failed to give any relief. Doctor Donnelly now has the case in charge and the patient is hanging between life and death with chances decidedly against his recovery. The whole arm is swollen so that it is more than thirty inches around and has all turned black up to the shoulder. The disease soon spread through the entire system and gangrene has now set in. The case is one of more than ordinary severity and the patient is truly an object of sympathy. The unfortunate man's family and Mr. Sheffield, his father-in-law, are here and are doing all they can to relieve his suffering. Carroll Sentinel - Monday , December 28th, 1891 - Henry Wernick, who has been lying ill with blood poisoning at the City hotel for some time, died this morning about 10 clock. His father arrived on the limited from Illinois, half an hour too late to see his son alive. This case has been very sad one from the beginning, his recovery being practically given up some time ago. Still hoping against hope the fight for life was kept up until this morning the grim reaper called him home. The body was taken to Lake City today where the funeral will be held.
