Pallbearers were Ed Piggott, Joe N. Henke, Clarence Jenkins, Peter Eischen, Milo McWilliams, and Charles George. William H. Wester, son of Frank and Mary Wester, was born March 15, 1882 near Cherokee, and resided on the farm with his parents until 1904, when he went to South Dakota and homesteaded near what was then Lamro and later changed to Winner. He was there three years until he proved up on his claim. He then returned to Cherokee where he farmed with his brother, John, after which he farmed for himself until 1914. At this time he went to school at Iowa State college at Ames for two years. He had a nervous break down there and came home and went to California with his sister, Katherine, for the winter. He also spent two years at N. B. T. School in Sioux City. The remainder of his life has been spent in and near Cherokee. He has worked for the county engineer and the highway commission surveyor off and on for several years. He also worked for Raymond Kintigh and Milo McWilliams in their respective filling stations. At the time of his death he was 66 years, 6 months, and 25 days of age. He had never married and was residing with his sister, Mrs. J.E. Leam, 802 West Cherry street, in Cherokee. Preceding him in death were his brother, Frank, also his mother and father. Left to mourn his departure are three brothers and five sisters: John C. Wester, Worthington, Minn., Mrs. Jake Heller, Glendale, Calif., Mrs. E.R. Erickson, Alta, Mrs. J.E. Learn, Cherokee, Katherine Wester, Glendale, Calif., Bertha Wester, Cherokee, Fred M. Wester, Cherokee, and Chris Wester of Gillette; Wyo., also a great many other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed In Cherokee as he always had a word of greeting for everyone and has helped officiate at a great many baseball games the last few years. All the brothers and sisters were at the funeral except Bertha, who is in the hospital. Other relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. J.B. (Bud) Wester of Adrian, Minn., Mrs. Paul Becker and Mrs. John Becker, both of Cascade, and Mrs. John Breen of Monticello.
