Description	:	William Henry McCabe was born July 14, 1872 in Jackson county, Iowa, near the town of Sabula, and passed away at Cherokee, Nov. 10, 1948, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 3 days. In infancy he moved with his parents from Jackson county to Ida county. They located on a farm near Ida Grove where he grew to manhood. On March 4, 1896 he was united in marriage to Emma Brownlee. Read More	William Henry McCabe was born July 14, 1872 in Jackson county, Iowa, near the town of Sabula, and passed away at Cherokee, Nov. 10, 1948, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 3 days. In infancy he moved with his parents from Jackson county to Ida county. They located on a farm near Ida Grove where he grew to manhood. On March 4, 1896 he was united in marriage to Emma Brownlee. To this union five children were born, three sons and two daughters. After their marriage they resided on a farm near Ida Grove for about 14 years. Then they moved to a farm near Washta where they resided for 32 years. They retired from farming about six years ago, and have made their home in the town of Washta. He was a member of the Methodist church at Washta, and also a former member of the Odd Fellows lodge at Cushing. Preceding him in death was a son, Harry and a daughter Dorothy. He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, Mrs. Emma McCabe; two sons, Carl McCabe of Los Angeles, Calif., and Francis McCabe of Washta; one daughter, Mrs. Daisy Robinson of Sergeant Bluff; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Washta Methodist church Saturday. Rev. C. C. Callahan, Marcus, preached the funeral sermon, assisted by Rev. Arthur Rasmussen. Singers were Walter Cowan and Mrs. Margaret Stratton with the selections "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" and "God Will Understand." Thelma Carlton was at the piano. Burial was in Washta cemetery. Pallbearers were Boyd Beasley, Fred Harder, Emil Carsten, Lyle Kissinger, Boyd Stratton and Cecil Robinson. --Unknown Cherokee County, Iowa newspaper, Nov. 1948
