Description	:	William H. Heider, a native and life-long resident of Thayer County, died April 24, 1966 at Thayer County Memorial Hospital at Hebron at the age of 82 years, eight months and six days. Heider, a native and life-long resident of Thayer County, died April 24, 1966 at Thayer County Memorial Hospital at Hebron at the age of 82 years, eight months and six days. He had suffered a heart attack at the home of his son, Robert Heider, the day before his death. William Hermann Heider was born August 18, 1883 at Friedensau, Nebr., the son of Paul and Clara Heider. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in early youth in the Lutheran Church. William Heider and the former Miss Alma Friederick Heidbrink were married December 14, 1911 at Byron, Nebr. There were seven children born to this family: Louis, Esther, Wilda, Elmer, Novella, Robert and Verona. For some twenty-one years they farmed near Chester, later farming in the Friedensau and Deshler neighborhoods, until Mr. and Mrs. Heider retired to Chester in 1956. The entire family has been closely connected to the Lutheran Church. Mr. Heider was a member of the school board of St. John's Lutheran Church, Chester, for a period of about twelve years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Novella, who died in infancy; three brothers, Henry, Ferdinand and George; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Fritz and Mrs. Minnie Reinke. The survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alma Heider; the children, Louis H. Heider, Omaha; Mrs. Esther Juengel, Yuma, Colo.; Mrs. Wilda Juengel, Los Angeles, Calif.; Elmer J. Heider, Deshler; Robert W. Heider, Hebron; Mrs. Verona Hofts, Topeka, Kans.; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Wiemers of Ravenna; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted April 27 in St. John's Lutheran Church at Chester, Pastor O.R. Heinitz officiating. The girls chorus sang, accompanied by Walter Firnhaber. Pallbearers were Elmer Heider, John Heider, Russell Heidbrink, William Reinke, Louis Reinke and Arthur Reinke. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge.
