Description	:	Staunton Spectator March 22, 1881 Mr. William Hiner of Highland. — On Saturday night, the 12th inst, Mr. Wm. Hiner of Highland county, who lived on Jackson's River about 7 miles from Monterey, went to bed In good health, but was found dead in his bed the next morning. He was a respectable citizen, and had been for many years a consistent member of the Methodist church. He was in the 70th year of his age, and left four children living in Highland county. Read More	Staunton Spectator March 22, 1881 Mr. William Hiner of Highland. — On Saturday night, the 12th inst, Mr. Wm. Hiner of Highland county, who lived on Jackson's River about 7 miles from Monterey, went to bed In good health, but was found dead in his bed the next morning. He was a respectable citizen, and had been for many years a consistent member of the Methodist church. He was in the 70th year of his age, and left four children living in Highland county. In a notice of his death, the Highland Recorder says: "There is something remarkable connected with this family. Four of Its members died before him. and all of them died very suddenly. First, was his wife, who died about twenty-five years ago. Then his oldest son, Harmon, was shot dead in a brisk skirmish before the fall of Richmond (Listed at dying at Spotsylvania Court House May 19, 1864) and his next son (John) in years was wounded at the Petersburg fight, and carried to Richmond, where, it is supposed, he died shortly afterwards. Next, his little daughter was instantly killed by an accident in falling from a children's hobby, four or five years ago and last Saturday night the subject of this sketch." Death reported by son S. Brown Hiner. Eliza Jane Hiner died June 12, 1853 in Highland from hysteria. Born Pendleton County, Va. Occupation: House Keeper. Consort of Wm. Hiner. Death reported by Dr. James H. Byrd. Hiner Family History William married 1st Eliza J. Malcomb. 2nd Mary A. Doyle, 1860. Harmon died at Spotsylvania Court House.
