"Bill" Tyler Jr, 91, died on January 8, 2022 at the White Oak Health Campus in Monticello, IN with family by his side. He was born on August 11, 1930 in Hammond, IN to the late William Hubert Tyler Sr and Myrtle Irene (Alderson) Tyler. He was first married to Gwendolyn Banks and then Janie Ross; they are both deceased. On June 14, 1975 in Monticello, IN, he married Mary Ann Harvey; she passed away on December 21, 2021. Bill had lived in the Monticello area most of his life and was a 1947 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Monticello. He was a United States Army and United States Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Bill retired from the United States Air Force in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Post #81 and was a reserve officer with the association department of Indiana and had served president in 1978. Bill was a former member of the Monticello Christian Church. He was also a former member and chief of the Monticello Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years. Bill worked/owned at the former Monticello Machine Shop until 1975. Bill worked extremely hard in his yard keeping it beautiful and very well manicured. He also enjoyed snow blowing all of the neighbors sidewalks, whether they liked it or not. William is survived by six children; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Patrick Tyler; one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Gustin; one son-in-law, Paul Thyfault; and two siblings, Robert Tyler and Priscilla Rector. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home. Pastor Robert "Bob" Houser of the LifeSong Church will officiate. Burial will take place in IOOF Riverview Cemetery.
