He was born and raised in Clinton and left here ten years ago when he was promoted to the position of master mechanic with headquarters at Baraboo, Wis. He was 64 years old and his body will arrive in Clinton Sunday or Monday for burial. A telegram was received in Clinton this morning at 9:30 o'clock conveying the sad information of the death of Mr. Hufman. He was, while a resident of Clinton, an engineer on the Northwestern railway but departed from Clinton on being promoted to the position of master mechanic for the company with headquarters at Baraboo, Wis. His mother, Mrs. Isabel Hufman, is a resident of Clinton, living at 573 Tenth avenue, and it will be from her home from which the funeral will be held. The body will arrive in Clinton Sunday or Monday and it is probable that the funeral will be held Monday. The cause of Mr. Hufman's demise was not stated, but he has been in failing health for some time. A few years ago Mr. Hufman had served the required number of years with the company that entitled him to be honorably pensioned and for some time previous to his death he was out of actual service. His railroad career was a long and successful one. Being born and raised here he entered the employ of the Northwestern company here as a locomotive foreman. He was later promoted to engineer and for a long period of years had a run out of Clinton, west. He was well and popularly known in Clinton and in railroad circles and was considered to be one of the best informed and most capable locomotive engineers and master mechanics in the company's service. Ten years ago his ability was recognized by his employers and he was further promoted to the position of master mechanic with headquarters at Baraboo, Wis. Surviving the deceased are three children, Charles W., of Clinton, William H. of Baraboo, Wis. and Mrs. Frank Hatch. His wife died some years ago. He is further survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Isabel Hufman, four sisters, Mrs. Lafayette Lamb of Clinton, Mrs. Isabel McCullough, Memphis, Tenn.; Mrs. Sarah Simmons, Chicago and Mrs. Charles McMahon, also of Chicago. He is further survived by three brothers, Bruce and Robert of Clinton and Frank of Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Hufman, the deceased man's mother, is now visiting at Memphis, Tenn., but will hasten to her home here. The Clinton Daily Herald Saturday April 30, 1910 p. 3
