Description	:	William J. "Bill" Kroon, 82, of Orange City died Wednesday, August 13, at Orange City Municipal Hospital. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alton Reformed Church in Alton with the Rev. C. Orville Kool officiating. Burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery. "Bill" Kroon, 82, of Orange City died Wednesday, August 13, at Orange City Municipal Hospital. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alton Reformed Church in Alton with the Rev. C. Orville Kool officiating. Burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery. Kroon was born November 30, 1921, at Sioux Center, the son of John and Wilhelmina (Scholten) Kroon. He was raised at Sioux Center, where he graduated from high school. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On September 28, 1949, he married Teneva Marjorie Koerselman at Sioux Center. They made their home in Alton for 48 years. For most of those years, he was the Alton representative for the Iowa Public Service Company. In 1998, they moved to Orange City. His wife died May 29, 2001 in Orange City. He was a member of the Alton Reformed Church and the Floyd American Legion Post in Alton. The couple enjoyed fishing and camping. For 14 years, they wintered in Arizona, where he was a shuffleboard champion. Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Robert Kroon and Melinda Dunnihoo, of Belmont, California, Emily and Jim Vander Pol, of Hospers and Ken and Edie Kroon of Alton; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Henry and Gladys Kroon or Eagle Grove and Stanton and Marge Kroon or Burnsville, Minnesota; and three sisters, Eda Kroon of Sioux Center, Trudy and her husband Joe Plattner of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Norma and her husband Don Loe of Casper, Wyoming. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Richard and his wife, Jeri, Bernard and his wife Joann, Bert, and another Bert in infancy. Memorials may be directed to the Alton Reformed Church Benevolence Fund; the New Hope Community Church in Gilbert, Arizona; or the Sioux County Cancer Society.
