William's Mother Minerva was a Nurse , Teacher and Housewife. Minerva's Father, William's Grandfather , Dr. William Grout was a Pioneer Doctor. William and his Parents first moved from Ohio to Burnips, Michigan where his Sister Lillie Minerva Briggs was Born in 1871. (Parental Grandparents were residing in Allegan Co. Michigan. ) Their Family relocated to the Ashley North Dakota area and lived in McIntosh County North Dakota many years. William and Lillie's Father James Briggs passed away in Ashley North Dakota in 1904. William was sited as Single living with his Widowed Mother on the 1910 Ashley North Dakota U.S. Census report after his Father passed away. Mother Minerva Briggs passed away in 1911. William's only known Sibling Lillie Briggs first Married Martin Allen Godfrey in 1888 Ashley North Dakota. Lillie and Martin Godfrey were Blessed with Many Children. William had many Nephews and Nieces. Not known if William ever Married or was Blessed with Children. It appears he was Single with no children, if accurate. Brother in Law Martin Allen Godfrey passed away in 1918. William's Widowed Sister Lillie Briggs Godfrey remarried to Widowed Charles John " C.J." Moore in 1924. William Briggs was single in Census Reports viewed and he was a Farmer. He later owned land in Mcintosh County North Dakota per land ownership records, possibly formerly his Parents land. Not known. William, his Parents, Grandparents were early Pioneers and Settlers in America. William J. Briggs passed away in Ramsey Co. North Dakota. William's North Dakota Death Certificate Sited he was Single.
