Description	:	William Ladwig, who was seriously burned last Wednesday afternoon, as was stated in these columns last week, died from his injuries Thursday night. He suffered untold agony as a result of his burns, and death relieved him from pain. Funeral services were held over the remains at the German Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. H. Read More	William Ladwig, who was seriously burned last Wednesday afternoon, as was stated in these columns last week, died from his injuries Thursday night. He suffered untold agony as a result of his burns, and death relieved him from pain. Funeral services were held over the remains at the German Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. H. Becker, and the remains were laid to rest in the north (Seward) cemetery. The deceased was 87 years of age and had resided in this community for nearly forty years. He is survived by two sons, August Ladwig of Seward and Ferdinand Ladwig of Surprise, and two daughters, Mrs. Frank Peterson of Seward and Mrs. William Block of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mr. Ladwig was in the alley just across the street west of Wickersham's livery barn last Wednesday afternoon, when his clothes caught fire. The general supposition at the time was that the blaze had started from his pipe but it is understood that after he had been taken to the hospital the unfortunate man stated that the blaze started from a lighted piece of paper blowing from a bonfire. At any rate he was discovered by a boy who was trying to catch a chicken which had escaped from John Fleener's poultry house. Mr. Fleener was the first man to reach him and others came hurriedly. He was rolled on the ground and the blaze extinguished, after which he was taken to Morrow's hospital where his burns were given medical attention.
