Morgan, veteran of World War I and a director of the former Old German Brewing Company in Cumberland for many years, died yesterday morning at his home, 72 West Fairview Street, Piedmont, after an illness of 14 years. A native of Lonaconing, Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Michael C. and Mary Elizabeth (Lannon) Morgan. He moved to Piedmont with his parents, and resided in the community for the remainder of his life, with the exception of a year's residence in Baltimore shortly after his marriage. Mr. Morgan was a graduate of St. Peter's School, Westernport, and of Rock Hill College, Ellicott City, near Baltimore. He enlisted in the Medical Corps during the First World War and served overseas as a First-Sergeant. He was a member of Kelly-Mansfield Post No. 52, American Legion, Piedmont, and belonged to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, and the Holy Name Society of the church. Besides his widow, Mrs. Minnie (Gilbert) Morgan, he is survived by two daughters, the Misses Rose Mary and Angela Morgan, both at home; a brother, Michael Morgan, Baltimore; and four sisters, Mrs. James Laffey and Mrs. Agnes Bell, both of Westernport; and Mrs. Mary Jenkins and Miss Clara Morgan, Piedmont. Another sister, Sister Alma Maria, SSJ., the former Ella Morgan, died 14 April 1947 in Cheltenham, Pa. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Church with interment in the church cemetery. Kelly-Mansfield Post, American Legion, Piedmont, will conduct military rites at the grave." Father, born Ireland; mother born Westernport, Md.
