Description	:	William James Ellis, a Millwright, was the second of six children born to his parents David Ellis and Nancy Hedrick. When his mother died in 1823 his father remarried in 1828 and his step mother's name was Sarah Jane Farmer. But by that time he was a young adult. He married Rhoda Mathews on July 15th, 1833 in Hampshire County West Virginia. She is the daughter of James Mathews and Martha McCarry of Virginia. Read More	William James Ellis, a Millwright, was the second of six children born to his parents David Ellis and Nancy Hedrick. When his mother died in 1823 his father remarried in 1828 and his step mother's name was Sarah Jane Farmer. But by that time he was a young adult. He married Rhoda Mathews on July 15th, 1833 in Hampshire County West Virginia. She is the daughter of James Mathews and Martha McCarry of Virginia. Later that same year they moved to Highland County, Virginia and that is where the first of their children were born. They had 13 children that they named in the order of their births: James William, Nancy, Martha, Susan, Harriet, Eliza, John M, Rhoda, Mary, Joanna, Sarah J, George F and Francis Marion Ellis. In November 1849 the family relocated to Mahaska Co., Iowa and that is where William and Rhoda now rest in peace side by side forever. After the death of his spouse Rhoda in 1889, William married again to Elizabeth (Sells) Ogle on 31 Jul 1890 in Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co., Iowa. It was the second marriage for both of them.
