Description	:	W. James Brigham, age 94, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Osceola Good Samaritan Society in Osceola. Funeral services were held Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Shelby with Pastor Robert Perry officiating. Interment was in the Shelby Cemetery with Military Rites by Osceola Legion Post #91. Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements. W. James Brigham was born June 19, 1918 in Shelby, Nebraska to Ray and Hazel (Boardman) Brigham. He attended grade school at District 14 and graduated from Shelby High School in 1935. Jim continued his education at Midland College, receiving a degree in Accounting and at Colorado State University (Fort Collins, CO), receiving a degree in Forestry. Following graduation he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he had a forestry post in the Rocky mountains. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940 and served through 1946, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of Warrant Officer. On June 19, 1944, Jim was united in marriage to Imogene Burk and the couple had four children. They farmed near Shelby and Osceola. On September 30, 1978, Jim married Shirley Marsh, who passed away in 1984. Jim's retirement was spent in McAllen, TX with longtime companion Adele Poole. Favorite hobbies included playing cards and participating in sporting activities, especially golf and fishing. Jim belonged to the Ryan Hill Country Club and the Osceola American Legion Post #91 as a 45 year member. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Hazel; wife Shirley and special friend Adelle Poole.
