Description	:	W. J. Moses died at his home in this city at 4:10 P.M. Wednesday, September 17, after a continued illness of five weeks, the greater part of which time it was feared that he could not recover. The immediate cause of his death was a leaking heart valve. William James Moses was born at Osgood, Canada, on January 22, 1828, and there grew to manhood. He was united in marriage with Miss Armstrong at Utica, New York, in 1850. To this union three daughters were born, Cora, Belle and Lena Moses who now reside in New York. In 1875 Mrs. Moses died. A short time after Mr. Moses came to Emmetsburg and has since resided here. In 1876 he married Miss Louise M. Clarke who now survives him. Five sons and one daughter were born to this union. They were Walter, the eldest son who died in May 1907, and a baby boy died in infancy, Rosco, Louis and Ralph Moses and Mrs. Arthur Williams, all of whom reside here. There is probably no one in this city and few in this county who did not know Mr. Moses. He has resided here constantly for 38 years and has been engaged in shoe making during that time. He is one of the pioneer business men of the county. He was honest, industrious, courteous, agreeable and gentlemanly. The writer cannot remember the time when we did not know Mr. Moses. We never met him during all these years that he was not pleasant and a gentleman. He will be missed by the towns people for his long residence seemed to make his stay here permanent. Of course in his home most of all his absence will bring real sorrow. His children will mourn him but his wife whose companion of many years has been taken will undergo the greatest grief. Life will never be quite the same to her and she will miss him more and more as the days and years go by. To her as well as to the children The Tribune extends sincere sympathy.
