Description	:	William Jasper Martin was born June 28th, 1875 at New Sharon, Iowa and passed away October 2, 1946 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 3 days at the home of his daughter, Lila B. Colson in Greeley, Colorado. He embraced the Christian faith early in his youth and was a member of the Methodist Church throughout his life. He united in holy wedlock with Sophia A. Rieke of Chester on Jan. 24th, 1898 at Belleville, Kansas. His beloved wife answered the call of our Lord, Nov. 24th, 1945. To this union, six children were born, two dying in infancy.... He leaves to mourn his passing, besides his aged mother, Rose A. of Lenora, Kansas, four children - Lila B. Colson of Greeley, Colo., Laurence J. of Somonauis, Ill., Lloyd A. of Wheatland, Wyo. and Bertrand R. of Hebron, eight grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters besides many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at Hebron, Friday afternoon, October 4th with Rev. R.W. Sandsted officiating. Burial was in the Chester Cemetery. Those from out-of-town attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Martin of Mound City, Mo; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilson of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Alsdorf of Lenora, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Eickman and Mr. and Mrs. Louise Eickman of Chester; Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Martin of Somonauk, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Martin of Wheatland, Wyo.; and Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Colson of Greeley, Colo.
