Description	:	William Jennings Ratcliff, 78 of Narrows passed away Friday, October 15th, 2004 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born August 8th, 1926 and was the son of the late Wirt J. and Ida Harriet Caperton Ratcliiff, in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and was a retired employee of Giles County Public Schools, where he worked for many years as a custodian at Narrows Elementary/Middle School. He was also a member of VFW Post #6000 of Narrows. He is survived by his wife, Eloise H. Ratcliff; four children, Elizabeth and Oakley Martin of Narrows, Harriet and Randall Fletcher of Narrows, W.J. and Lisa Ratcliff of Staffordsville, Jack and Vicky Ratcliff of Princeton; one brother, Jerry and Bobbie Ratcliff of Narrows; one sister, Sue and Mickey Bland of Pearisburg; two sisters-in-law, Helen Ratcliff of Narrows and Margaret Ratcliff of New Jersey; a brother-in-law, Russell and Polly Harless of Loganville, Georgia; eleven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 17th, 2004 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. J.D. Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with graveside rites by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Post #68 of Narrows and American Legion Post #311 of Pembroke. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows Saturday from 6-8 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Veterans Memorial Park of Narrows; 129 Dill Street; Narrows, VA 24124.
