He served as director, VP, and was elected President of the Frederika Creamery on March 9, 1936. He and Sarah farmed near Frederika, Iowa until they retired to a home in Fredericksburg in 1971. Sumner Gazette January 20, 1972 FREDERICKSBURG — Funeral services for William John Hagedorn, 74, were held Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church at Frederika. The Rev. U. F. Groncwold officiated with burial in Rose Hill cemetery at Fredcricksburg. William John Hagedorn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Hagedorn, was born May 16, 1897, in Chickasaw County where he received his education in the rural schools. He was baptized in the Lutheran church. On January 6, 1920, he was united in marriage to Sarah Madden and they farmed near Frederika until their retirement a few years ago when they moved to their present home in Fredericksburg. Mr. Hagedorn suffered a heart attack on Sunday, January 2, and died at the Waverly hospital on Monday, Jan. 10. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Brotherhood. He served on the Frederika creamery board for several years. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; three children, Donald of Lakewood, Colo., Mrs. Orville (Hazel) Oltrogge of Waverly, and Mrs. Leslie (June) Parker, Jr. of Ionia; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Edward and Albert of Fredericksburg, Louie of Ionia, and Leslie of New Hampton; four sisters, Bertha Hagedorn Fredericksburg, Mrs. Fred (Anna) Priebe of New Hampton, Mrs. Wilco (Emma) Schroder of Sumner, and Marie Hagedorn of Charles City. He was preceded in death by his parents; on daughter, Betty Jane who died in infancy, and two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Ida) Steege, and Mrs. Oliver (Leola) Munson of Charles City. Eight grandchildren; four brothers, Albert and Ed Hagedorn of Fredericksburg, Louie of Ionia, Leslie of New Hampton; four sisters, Mrs. Fred Priebe of New Hampton, Mrs. Wilco Schroeder of Sumner, Marie Hagedorn of Charles City and Bertha Hagedorn of Fredericksburg.
