He was a graduate of St. Peter's High School, Frostburg State University and the University of Maryland. He took additional courses at Potomac State College, Fairmont State College, Wake Forest University and Cornell University. Mr. Faherty was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in China, Burma and India. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg and St. Peter's Church, Westernport; Piedmont Council 685, Knights of Columbus; St. Peter's Alumni Association; the Western LaVale Kiwanis Club; the Allegany County Bird Club and Victory Post 155 American Legion, Westernport. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Wensel Faherty and one sister, Jean O'Donnell, Hagerstown, Md. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Boal-Warnick Funeral Home, Westernport. A Christian Wake service will be held there Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church by Father Paul A. Byrnes. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the St. Peter's School Fund."
