Description	:	According to census records William Judd was born about 1818 in Ohio. His parents and family of origin are unknown. The earliest record we have for him is his marriage on December 6, 1835 in Hancock County, Ohio to Sarah Clymer. He was a Farmer, and a Cooper, and served in the Iowa State Militia ca 1855-1856. William and Sarah began their lives together in Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio (marriage record, 1840 census) and from census records and known birth locations of some of their children we can follow their migratory trail. ... The earliest record we have for him is his marriage on December 6, 1835 in Hancock County, Ohio to Sarah Clymer. He was a Farmer, and a Cooper, and served in the Iowa State Militia ca 1855-1856. William and Sarah began their lives together in Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio (marriage record, 1840 census) and from census records and known birth locations of some of their children we can follow their migratory trail. By 1844 they were in Berrien County, Michigan having moved with members of the Clymer family; by 1850 they were in Hudson Township, La Porte County, Indiana; by 1854 they were in Jones County, Iowa, first in Rome Township, then in Hale Township; by 1860 they were in Marble Rock, Union Township, Floyd County, Iowa; by 1870 they were in Charles City, Union Twp, Floyd co, Iowa. And by 1875 they were in Inman (then, Inman Grove), Holt County, Nebraska. William and Sarah were the parents of thirteen children; nine of those children have been identified. We have been unable to identify the remaining four and presumably they were born and died between census counts, no other records can be found for these children. Known children: Elizabeth 'Betsey,' Philip, Abraham 'Abram,' Nancy, Mary, James Monroe, Sylvester, Lucy, and Alvero Clarence. Links to all children are listed below with the exception of daughter Mary Judd whose history has been lost to us. Mary Lewis shares William’s headstone. I would assume this is William and Sarah’s daughter Mary, as it seems unlikely that anyone would share a cemetery plot and headstone with another person unless it was a child or grandchild. And notes posted to the Inman Cemetery Index listed at Boyd County, Nebraska usgenweb project do indicate that Mary Lewis Judd was a daughter. However, her inscription reads that she was 27 years old when she died in 1881, which calculates to an 1854 birthyear; whereas Mary Judd was born in 1846, per census records. Mary Lewis remains unidentified; and daughter Mary Judd is last located, age 14 years, with her family in the 1860 census; what became of her is unknown.
