Description	:	William Kenneth Kearby, 85, of Fort Myers, Florida, died peacefully at the Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. He was born on February 8, 1930 in Edmond, Oklahoma to William Ward Kearby and Mary Lou Cleaver. He was the youngest of three children with 2 older sisters, Mildred and Pauline. Read More	William Kenneth Kearby, 85, of Fort Myers, Florida, died peacefully at the Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. He was born on February 8, 1930 in Edmond, Oklahoma to William Ward Kearby and Mary Lou Cleaver. He was the youngest of three children with 2 older sisters, Mildred and Pauline. He grew up in Edmond and graduated from Edmond High School in 1948. As a young man, he worked in his Brother-in-Law Floyd’s filling station as an attendant. He moved to Northern Indiana in 1949 at the age of 19 and was united in marriage to Mary Louise Putman in June of 1950. He started his career in information systems as a computer operator at International Harvester in the early 1950s. During this time, he also served in the Indiana National Guard as a cook. With help from his father-in-law, they built a house on the Putman family farm in Jefferson Township in Whitley County, Indiana and settled there to raise their family. He joined Essex Wire in 1956 and worked there as a Programmer Analyst and Supervisor until 1970. He moved the family to Seymour, Indiana in 1970 where he worked for H.O. Canfield in Data Processing. In 1972, he returned with the family to Fort Wayne where he became Data Processing Manager for Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company. He remained at Brotherhood until he retired in 1995 as Assistant Vice President, Data Processing. He and Mary Louise relocated to Ft Myers in 1997. He loved being with family and friends (especially his grandchildren), telling stories, good food, and volunteering at the hospital. He was light-hearted and always had a humorous anecdote to share. He was an active member of Fort Myers First Church of the Nazarene, taking part in many worship, education, and service activities including teaching Adult Sunday School for many years. He loved to spend time in God’s word and loved to recite scripture. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Louise; three sons, Randy of Lexington, NC, David and his wife Deb of Cape Coral, FL and Tim and his wife Sue of Cary, NC, and their families including seven grandchildren (Josh, Joe, Jennica, Andrew, Amber, Kyler, and Daniel) and six great grandchildren (Brittany, Anikah, Aubrey, Ava, Addison, and Analee). The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 8611 Mayhew Road, Fort Wayne with visitation after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The burial will be in Jefferson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will also be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Preferred memorials are to American Heart Association.
