Read More	Boone County Democrat October 2, 1908 The people of this community were shocked Sunday to hear of the death of William Knox, which occurred in Denver, Colorado, September 26, 1908. While it was known that he was in very poor health his condition was not considered dangerous. A few weeks ago he held a public sale at his farm northeast of Woodward, sold off his stock and machinery and left for the west. He had been troubled with asthma for several years and thought perhaps that a change of climate would better his condition. He had been in Colorado but a few days when his death came. He died suddenly from an attack of heart trouble, Mr. Knox had been a resident of Boone county for many years and was well and favorably known by all who have lived here for any length of time. Born in Scotland he immigrated with his parents to America in 1872. He came to Iowa three years later and has been a resident of Boone county ever since. Of nine brothers he was the eldest, seven brothers surviving him, Robert, in Indiana; James in Illnois; David in South Dakota and Andrew, in Montana. The other brothers are residents of Iowa. William was married December 31, 1877 to Miss Arvilla Allison who died several years ago. To them three children were born, Janet, Mary and Arvilla, the two last named surviving to mourn the loss of a kind-hearted and beloved father. The body of Mr. Knox arrived in Madrid Sunday, where it was taken charge of by the Madrid Odd Fellows, and on Monday was escorted to the Liberty church by the family and friends and members of the Woodward Odd Fellows lodge, of which he was a member for many years. Services were held at the church. A quartette, composed of Misses Parks and Miller and Mesers Wade and Rhoads, sang several selections. Rev. Douglas, pastor of the Madrid Methodist church preached an able funeral sermon. Interment was made at the Liberty cemetery near by the Odd Fellows funeral ritual being used at the grave.
