Mr. Kowalke was an old settler in this county, coming to Iowa about thirty years ago. He leaves five children, four sons and one daughter to mourn his demise, namely: Mrs. Robert M. The funeral services were held in the Lutheran church of Lincoln township, Rev. Martha, officiating and the remains were laid to rest in the Lincoln cemetery at this afternoon at two o'clock. The relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in the bereavement. Death of William Kowalke Special Correspondence from Hungerford township: William Kowalke died at the home of his son, Albert Kowalke, April 6, 1909, at the age of eighty-one years, old age being the cause of his demise. He leaves two of his own children and three adopted children to mourn his loss. William Kowalke was a native of Germany, being born January 28, 1828. He was united in marriage December 24, 1854 to Wilhelmine Binneboese in Germany. In the year 1874 he came with his family to America and settled In Joliet, Illinois Seven years later he removed with his family to Plymouth county, Iowa, and settled on a farm in Lincoln township, where ho farmed with his son, Albert His children are Albert Kowalke of this place and Mrs. Robert Helmgartner of Joleatta, Idaho. The adopted children are August Binneboese, of Hungerford township, Chas. Binnneboese of Pipestone, Minnesota and John Binneboese of Leeds, Iowa. All of them were present at the funeral excepting Mrs. Helmgartner of Idaho. The obsequies were held Friday, April 9, from the German Lutheran church In Lincoln township and large number of the neighbors and friends followed the remains to their last resting place. Mr. Kowalke was a good man, neighbor and citizen and his death will be mourned by a large circle of friends among whom he was well and favorably known throughout this section of the county.
