Roberts Nov. 1, 1947, in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death Sept. 11, 2006. He was a farmer and worked for John Deere of 30 years, retiring in 1982. Bill was a member of the Dunnville Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and was also a 4-H leader. His hobbies were woodworking, raising cattle and doing genealogical research. He was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Wapello County to Carl and Lena Lynch Thomas. He married Phyllis M. Roberts Nov. 1, 1947, in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death Sept. 11, 2006. He was a farmer and worked for John Deere of 30 years, retiring in 1982. Bill was a member of the Dunnville Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and was also a 4-H leader. His hobbies were woodworking, raising cattle and doing genealogical research. Bill and Phyllis traveled to many states doing genealogical work. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Baby. He is survived by a son, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; a brother and a sister, He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Diana Bartlett; great-granddaughter, Carly Arnold; two brothers, Stuart and Stanley Thomas; and a sister, Alice Thomas. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; with Pastor Marvin Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Fiedler Cemetery in Wapello County.
