Description	:	William L. Demmers, 57, of 309 N. 2nd St., died Thursday at the Aberdeen Nursing Center, where he had been a resident for the past year and a half. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Huebl Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John H. Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Sidney L. Smith Post 24 of the American Legion. The body will lie in state at the mortuary from 5 p.m. Thursday until the time of service. The casket will not be opened after the service. The family is to meet at the Huebl Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The family prefers memorials. William L. Demmers was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Aberdeen. He was graduated from Central High School in 1935. He worked for his father at Holland Dairy until 1941, when the Aberdeen unit of the National Guard was called to active duty. He served in Tunisia, Italy, Southern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe and received the Bronze Star. He returned to Aberdeen after the war and was employed at Plymouth Clothing and later served as manager of the American Legion Club. Later he was employed by the public works department of the city of Aberdeen, retiring in 1971 because of ill health. He never married. Mr. Demmers was a past member of Sidney L. Smith Post 24 of the American Legion, the post's drum and bugle corps, the VFW, and was a past chef of the 40 et. 8. Survivors are a brother, Sieger, of Aberdeen, and two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Antonia) Ristau, Aberdeen, and Mrs. Ervin (Catherine) Putnam, Downey, Calif.
