Description	:	DIED--At his home in this city, May 7th, 1891, at six o'clock a.m., William L. Stuart, of Bright's disease and cancerous tumor, at the age of 75 years. Mr. Stuart was born in Kentucky Feb. 20th, 1816 and moved to Scott County, Illinois at the age of 14 years. He enlisted in the fall of 1861, as a private, in Co. F, of the 61st Illinois Infantry, and was promoted to the rank of Captain, May 24th, 1863, for meritorious conduct; re-enlisted in 1864 and served to the close of the war. Mr. Stuart, and family have... Read More	DIED--At his home in this city, May 7th, 1891, at six o'clock a.m., William L. Stuart, of Bright's disease and cancerous tumor, at the age of 75 years. Mr. Stuart was born in Kentucky Feb. 20th, 1816 and moved to Scott County, Illinois at the age of 14 years. He enlisted in the fall of 1861, as a private, in Co. F, of the 61st Illinois Infantry, and was promoted to the rank of Captain, May 24th, 1863, for meritorious conduct; re-enlisted in 1864 and served to the close of the war. Mr. Stuart, and family have been residents in or near Fairmont for 16 or 17 years and are well known to all, he being familiarly known as "Uncle" Stuart. Although not a member of any church at the time of his death, he was a Christian man. He was the last of a large family of children, save one, a brother James Stuart, living in this city. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church, Friday afternoon, at half past two, under the auspices of W.A. Webb post No. 18, G.A.R., of which he was a member. Rev. Adams preached the sermon and was assisted in the services by Rev. Cole of the Congregational church. The casket was appropriately draped in the emblem of his country for which he fought and was surmounted by the sword which he used while in service. The floral offerings were very neat and pretty in their design. The music was furnished by members of the Post and Relief Corps. Again, the circle has been broken, growing less each time as the comrades are falling "one by one". To his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Henry Lee, and other relatives, we extend our sympathies in their bereavement.
