Accompaning the body to Carroll were Mrs. Stulsman and Mr. Stern of Spokane, a represeiitatlvo of the Union Pacific by which company Mr. Stutsman had been employed for many years. William L. Stutsman was born at Elkart, Ind. February 19, 1850. He grew to manhood in the place of his birth and then came to Iowa with his parents. He was united in marriage to Miss Emma V. Fraleigh at Wilton, Ia., June 20, 1876. Soon after their marriage they came to Carroll, Ia., where they lived until 1905, when they moved to Spokane, Wash. Two children were born to them, a daughter, who passed away in infancy and a son, Bert, who died in this city in his early manhood days. Mr. Stutsmun united with the I.O.O.F. lodge in Carroll in 1889 and also with the Masonic fraternity a number of years ago. He held the highest esteem of his brethern in the fraternal bodies of which he was a member and also of those with whom he had been associated in railroad circles for many years. Carroll friends of Mr. Stutsmun will remember him as a sincere friend and a man in whom any trust could be reposed. He was honorable and upright and was a splendid addition to any community. While a citizen of this city, he was loved and respected by his fellow men. Surviving him are his wife, two sisters and other relatives. Attending the funeral from a distance besides Mrs. Stutsman and Mr. Stern of Spokane, Wash., were: Dr. and Mrs. Gran of Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Thompson of Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Pluckett of Jefferson; Mr. and Mrs. George Egermayer of Des Moines and relatives from Sac City. March 11, 1935 - Carroll Daily Herald - Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. William Stutsman of Spokane, Wash., a resident of Carroll many years ago. The family moved to Spokane about the year 1904. When in Carroll, Mr. Stutsman was a railroad man and the family made their home on North West street, next to the present F.H. Hillemeyer residence. Mrs. Stutsman is the last member of the family, her husband, son and daughter all being buried in the local cemetery. It is not definitely known whether the body will be shipped to Carroll for burial or not.
